![]() ![]() Certain properties are enhanced when a plant is consumed raw vs. The bioavailability of the vitamins and minerals in a plant changes depending on how it is prepared. Juicing allows you to consume a wide variety fruits and veggies in their raw form. But if you struggle to get in a large amount and wide variety of fruits and veggies, juicing is a great option for you to consider. If you are getting the daily recommended intake of servings ( hint: most of us aren't) then juicing may not even interest you. I am not saying that juicing is necessarily healthier than eating whole fruits and vegetables. I only do juice cleanses when I am sick or feel the need to detoxify my body after potential exposure to chemicals or pro-inflammatory foods. I personally juice for its healing properties and I incorporate juices into my every day life. But extracting the juice from fruits and vegetables has been a dietary practice for a few hundred years now and boasts so many benefits other than weight loss. Juicing has unfortunately gotten kind of a bad reputation for being a trendy way to lose weight. I realized that my Dad's "carrot juice" I loved when I was young most likely had apple and ginger in it to make it more palatable.
